Basic Info
Name:Glinda Upland
Location:Manhattan, New York, United States
Bio
just not as popular as me
Character Name: Galinda/Glinda Upland / Glinda the Good
Series: Wicked
Gender: Female
Age: 25ish
Species: Ozian
Sexuality: heterosexual
Appearance: Glinda is simply put, strikingly beautiful. She was blessed with impeccable good looks from her rich heritage, as well as meticulous grooming on her behalf. She's a slender individual, not too skinny and naturally not too heavy, with curves where it counts, and stands just a little over 5'3", although she's never without heels so she's usually standing around 5'5" or so. Her hair is gold, not simply blonde but gold, and she usually wears it in curls, although straightened it falls a little past her shoulders. Her eyes are blue, with the slightest dash of green, and are quite dazzling if she says so herself.

Stylistically, Glinda is always in fashion, and always makes a statement. She'll never wear the same thing twice, and whatever she does wear is full of glamor and glitz. Also usually priceless gemstones of some kind or another, who can keep track as to what price these things are! She is capable of dressing in something more reserved, a simple white gown or some other color, but even that she somehow manages to make look incredibly glam.

Manhattanite or outsider? outsider

who can say if i've been changed for the better?
Personality: Glinda is the type of girl who always gets what she wants. She is manipulative and can be unthinkingly ruthless in her ambitions, doing whatever it takes to get to where she wants to be. She affects an incredibly bubbly air, to the point of obnoxiousness at times, although underneath the incredibly airheaded facade is a brilliant mind, unprovoked by such things as controversy and thinking too hard. She's very charismatic, which assists in her manipulating people, because some are so drawn to her that they're willing to be manipulated.

She likes to "fix" things, despite them not exactly being broken. If she takes it upon her to improve your social status, she will improve it, and you will like it. Or else.

With certain events, Glinda came to realize more of her potential, the repercussions of what happened when she always got what she wanted, and things that should make her happy that weren't what she expected them to be. While her effervescent nature is very much a part of her, she now strives to be a more honest person, to make up for all the lies that the Wizard poisoned Oz with, and in honor of Elphaba.

Abilities: Glinda is rumored to be an incredibly powerful sorceress, revered by all of Oz. Truthfully, she's only barely comprehended her magical talents, and is unable to make much sense of Elphaba's book, the Grimmerie. Most of her magic lies in cheap parlor tricks, things that will make herself look more glamorous. Her one real talent is creating a floating bubble that she can travel all of Oz within. It speaks of her potential, but as a figurehead she's never had to delve deeper into her abilities.

In Manhattan, her powers will be limited, her talents for bubble-making lasting only a few hours. She can likely conjure smaller bubbles more easily, and affect some of her glamour spells, but those would also only last a few hours.

Weaknesses: Glinda is a flawed individual. She struggles to rise above her flaws, but she can only do so much. She will judge a book by its cover, and she will be generally distant towards someone she finds repulsive. She can be incredibly vindictive when she feels wronged, and will use personal knowledge against people without a second thought initially, although she will eventually realize the wrongness of her actions. Her vindictive streak is only matched by her impulsiveness, she can often act on things without fully thinking her actions through, and while her luck usually ends in her favor, it can turn out unfortunate for someone dear to her.

i couldn't be happier
Galinda Upland of the Upper Uplands was born and raised in a very sheltered manner. Her entire life she was waited on hand and foot, and absolutely pampered to the point of thinking that the world practically revolves around her. She was never challenged, and she always got what she wanted. That was, of course, until she was accepted into Shiz University and met Elphaba Thropp. Elphaba was, from the moment Galinda met her, incredibly and insufferably obtuse. It only made matters worse when she accidentally volunteered herself to be Elphaba's roommate, and not a minute after Elphaba demonstrated her incredible magical potential, with Madame Morrible quickly taking her under her wing, and placing Elphaba into the coveted Sorcery Seminar that Galinda had been determined to be a part of. Galinda swore thereafter that she would dislike Elphaba until the end of her days, and made a point to be generally antagonistic towards her green roommate.

When Fiyero came to Shiz things began to change. Naturally, Galinda was drawn to him immediately, both being incredibly good-looking and incredibly vapid individuals, and she very quickly decided he was the One for her. The pair quickly made plans for a party at the Ozdust Ballroom, with most of Shiz invited along, and while Boq, a munchkin boy who had been trying from moment one to get Galinda to notice him had initially attempted to get in between Fiyero and Galinda, she distracted him off in Nessarose's direction. Without Boq in the way, Fiyero and Galinda seemed a match made in heaven, and Galinda felt things were going quite smoothly.

While preparing for the party, one of her friends came across a hideodious hat that Galinda's nanny had sent her, and the girls conspired to give it to Elphaba, to further humiliate the green girl. Elphaba took the hat as a sincere gesture, however, and requested of Madame Morrible that Galinda be included in the Sorcery Seminar. When Galinda found this out, she felt terribly guilty for tormenting Elphaba, and in an attempt to quell the jeering, danced with her.

From then on, Galinda and Elphaba, whom she began to refer to as "Elphie" were friends, rather than enemies. Galinda made Elphaba into one of her projects, and helped the other girl let her hair down a bit more, so to speak. Their friendship grew, as did Galinda's relationship with Fiyero, although that abruptly changed after an encounter he had with Elphaba, which Galinda was unaware of. Fiyero started being resistant to her affections, and of all things thinking, and she was incredibly worried for him, because he was no longer the perfect man she'd fallen in love with. In an attempt to sway his affections once again she changed her name to Glinda, in honor of Dr. Dillamond who had always pronounced her name wrong. She expressed her concerns to Elphaba as the girl was leaving for an audience with the Wizard, distraught that her best friend was leaving her, but also with the state of her relationship, and this prompted Elphaba to invite her along to the Emerald City.

The trip was heaven for Glinda, and things were looking up for Elphaba, until the girl realized that the Wizard had just wanted to use her for subduing the Animals. The Wizard offered the duo power and notoriety, and while Glinda was initially overjoyed to be given what she wanted, Elphaba lashed out, and the city was turned against her as she fled, Glinda following her in an attempt to convince her to apologize. Glinda had to say goodbye to Elphaba when she couldn't bear to leave an opportunity like what the Wizard had offered behind, and the two friends parted ways.

Glinda went on to be named Glinda the Good, officially, and became quite the figurehead for the Wizard, and Oz at large, bolstering everyone's spirits in the dark times created by the "Wicked Witch of the West." Fiyero was at her side, and while Glinda forced herself to make the pretense of being the happy and charismatic individual she always was, she missed Elphaba terribly and had told Fiyero the truth of what had transpired the day their friend had disappeared. He became the Captain of the Oz Guard, and searched tirelessly for Elphaba, which Glinda didn't read much into, beyond them both wanting to see their old friend again. When Glinda threw an engagement party for herself and Fiyero (an engagement he wasn't aware of up until then, mind) she was faced with the harsh truth that Fiyero was in love with Elphaba, not her, when her friend showed up in an attempt to free the flying monkeys from the Wizard's grasp.

Distraught and heartbroken when Fiyero ran with Elphaba, Glinda pointed out Elphaba's greatest weakness to a scheming Wizard and Madame Morrible: her little sister, Nessarose. Glinda suggested they spread a rumor to make Elphaba think Nessa was in danger, although she didn't think of what consequences might come about from her revelation, and shortly thereafter she was dispatched to Munchkinland to greet a lost little girl whose house had mysteriously landed on and killed "The Wicked Witch of the East," known to her as Nessa.

Elphaba showed up, and the two of them had it out, although Nessarose's death had been a trap for Elphaba, and the guard appeared, trapping her, although Fiyero also showed and held a gun to Glinda, allowing Elphaba to escape. Still in love with Fiyero, and finally able to accept that he truly loved Elphaba, Glinda tried to stop the guards from harming him, but they dragged her off and strung him up in the field.

It was not until a group of Witch-hunters was assembled around the girl who had inadvertently killed Nessarose, Dorothy, that Glinda started truly becoming aware of the horrors that the Wizard and Madame Morrible were willing to enact. Fleeing the Emerald City, Glinda flew to Elphaba's side to warn her of the coming hunters, determined not to lose any more of her friends. She tried to convince Elphaba to stop what she was doing, but Elphaba wouldn't be swayed, and when a note from Fiyero came, seemed determined to get Glinda to leave. Glinda wanted to stop lying and tell everyone what had really been going on, but Elphaba made Glinda swear not to clear her name. She then gave Glinda her Grimmerie, and the two reconciled their differences, acknowledging how important they were to one-another.

Unfortunately, the Witch Hunters were upon them then, and Glinda was only offered enough time to hide herself, before they attacked Elphaba, and the witch was seemingly melted by a bucket of water. Glinda was only able to watch the shadows of the event in horror, and she emerged after they'd all left, saying goodbye to her best friend. When Chistery, Elphaba's flying monkey, gave her the peculiar green bottle that Glinda knew had been Elphaba's mother's, she made a connection, realizing the only other time she'd seen such a strange bottle had been when the Wizard had offered her a drink from one, after Fiyero had left her.

Returning to Oz, Glinda confronted the Wizard with the truth of Elphaba's paternity, and she told him to leave Oz in his balloon, and never return. She then had Madame Morrible locked up for conspiring and the murder of Nessarose, and she assumed control of Oz, expressing her hopes that Oz would accept her as Glinda the Good.
